キーウ（キエフ）の街には、壁画がたくさんあり、それを紹介するSergiiさんのホームページが下記。

Support Ukraine Explore street art in Kyiv. Starting from 2014 large murals have been appearing across Kyiv and now they decorate narrow lanes and wide avenues in different parts of the city. These artworks are made by both international and local artists and they put Kyiv on the international street art map.

ある程度見つかりましたが、不思議なことに、かなりの場所が、壁画が描かれる前の壁の写真のみ。

キーウ（キエフ）のストリートビューが撮影されたのは2015年。2014年、反政府運動「ユーロ・マイダン革命」で、親露派のヤヌコーヴィチ大統領が失脚し、３月に、ロシアがクリミアを併合。Sergiiさんは、2014年から壁画運動が始まったとのみ書き、動機には触れていませんが、どう考えても、ロシアに対する民族意識の発露。2015年のストリートビューでは、始まって間もないため、記録し切れていなかったのです。

その「ユーロ・マイダン革命」の最初の犠牲者、Serhiy Nigoyanさんの壁画。

I found some murals. But strangely, I only discovered the wall without a mural in many places.

The date when Google Maps shot the street view of Kyiv was 2015. In 2014, the rebel movement "Euromaidan Revolution" ousted pro-Russian President Yanukovych. Then, in March of that year, Russia annexed Crimea. Sergii' writes that the mural movement started in 2014 and mentions no motive. But by all means, it is a manifestation of nationalism toward Russia. That's why Street View in 2015 didn't record completely. The movement was just beginning.

20世紀初頭のメキシコの壁画運動同様、壁画は、見る側だけでなく、書く側も自身の民族的思いを注ぎ込める強いメディアでした。５、６年でこれだけの壁画を出現させるウクライナ人の熱さは、侵攻に対して立ち上がる強い意志そのもの。

Like the Mexican mural movement in the early 20th century, a mural was a strong medium for not only the viewer but also the painter to infuse his ethnic thoughts. The enthusiasm of the Ukrainians to realize so many murals in 5 or 6 years is the strong will to stand up against the Russia.
