ルート66の聖地の一つ、66ダイナー。

One of the sacred place on Route 66 is the 66 Diner.

ルート66は、歌や小説になった街道。高速道路に取って代わられた今は、アメリカ人旅行者が、点々と残る遺構を回り、かつての時代を懐かしむ場所のようです。熊野古道でも、ヨーロッパの巡礼路でもなく、1920年代に制定された国道が、郷愁の対象となるのがアメリカ。

ツーリングの旅行者が訪れる聖地の一つが、アルバカーキにあるレストラン、その名も66ダイナー。50年代の建築ですが、アールデコのオマージュに見えます。アールデコを彩ったデザインの一つが客船ですが、ネオンが灯ると、停泊している客船のようで、線状のネオンや、流線型の外観や窓、ボールト状の天井も船のイメージ。

建物のイメージから夜通し開き、ちょっと「大人」の雰囲気かと思えば、閉店は午後10時で、アルコールは提供しないなど、健全そのもの。ただし、料理は、量も多すぎ、油も使いすぎ、野菜は生野菜のみで、アメリカらしく、そこだけは不健全。

Route 66 is a highway that has become a song and a novel. Now when the highway has replaced it, American travelers drive around the remains of Route 66 and miss the old days. The national highway that was established in the 1920s becomes the object of nostalgia. That is the United States.

One of the sacred places which touring travelers visited is the restaurant in Albuquerque, known as the 66 Diner. It's 1950's architecture, but it looks like an Art Deco homage. One of the designs that characterize Art Deco is a passenger ship. When the neon lights of 66 Diner are lit, it looks like a berthed passenger ship, and the linear neon, streamlined appearance, windows, and vault-shaped ceiling are also images of a ship.

I imagined that it opened all night from the architectural image and collect quests as a place with an "adult" atmosphere. In actuality, the restaurant closes at 10 pm and does not serve alcohol. That is healthy. However, as for the food, its amount was too much, and it used too much oil and only the raw vegetables. It is not healthy, that is, very American.
