ブエノスアイレスの近郊電車の北の終点ティーグレ。その先には、ラプラタ川のデルタが広がっています。

The northern end point of the suburban train in Buenos Aires is Tigre. From there on, the delta of the La Plata River extends.

ラプラタ川のデルタには、ブエノスアイレス市民の別荘が点在しています。道路はなく、唯一の交通手段は船。ティーグレからのフェリーは、オンデマンドで別荘に立ち寄りながら、２時間掛けてラ・プラタ川本流まで行き、またティーグレに戻ります。その別荘群が語るのは、経済的問題からは見えないアルゼンチンの豊かさ、というか、格差社会の一方にある振れ幅の大きい豊かさの実態。

ティーグレで船待ちのため、レストランに入ったときのこと。店には、新聞を読みながら食事をするおじさんが一人。隣でちょっと話をしただけでしたが、会計しようとすると、店員が、あの方が支払われましたとおじさんを指しました。お礼を言うと、おじさんは、新聞から目を上げ、「Diviértase Argentina ! （アルゼンチンをお楽しみあれ！）」と一言。そして、また新聞を読み始めました。かっこいい！。一人旅の外国人と隣り合ったらやりたいのが、この日本版。ただし、条件は、そんなに高くないレストラン。だって、豊かな側のアルゼンチンには比ぶべくもない懐具合ですから。

The Delta of the La Plata River is dotted with villas of Buenos Aires citizens. The ferry from Tigre stops at a villa on demand, takes two hours to reach the La Plata mainstream, and then goes back to Tigre. The villas tells about the richness of Argentina that cannot be imagined from economic situation, that is, the reality of extreme abundance on one side of the disparity society.

At Tigre, I entered a restaurant to wait for a ferry. There was a man who had a lunch, reading a newspaper. I only talked a little next to him, but when I tried to make a payment, the clerk pointed to him that he had paid for me. To me who addressed my gratitude, he raised his eyes from the newspaper and said, "Diviértase Argentina (Enjoy Argentina)!” Soon he looked back the newspaper again. Cool! This Japanese version is what I want to do if a foreigner traveler sits next to me. However, the condition is that the restaurant is not expensive. Because I am Japanese who is not abundant compared with rich Argentina.
